Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Monday that electric car batteries will be as important in transportation as oil is today.







Musk was responding to a social media post by an electric car enthusiast. The post noted that almost all ev battery production today is done by Asian companies, many of them in China, and shared an infographic from SNEResearch showing that the world's top 10 battery manufacturers are all in Asia, with China accounting for 44.1 percent of the global EV battery market.







Mr Musk responded: "In an electric future, batteries will be as important to transportation as oil is today."
